La corsa al titolo WRC3 2018 è agli sgoccioli e restano solo due appuntamenti (Spagna ed Australia) per aggiudicare il Campionato del Mondo riservato alle vetture a due ruote motrici. I mattatori del JWRC (gli svedesi Emil Bergkvist e Denis Rådström) non saranno al via degli ultimi appuntamenti della stagione, il francese Jean-Baptiste Franceschi ed il britannico Tom Williams non possono più segnare punti e, di conseguenza, a potersi giocare il successo restano solo Enrico Brazzoli, il finlandese Taisko Lario e l’inglese Louise Cook. A tutti e tre i piloti la matematica concede la chance di aggiudicarsi il Campionato ma tutto dipenderà dall’esito finale delle due rimanenti gare…..
Enrico Brazzoli, come di consueto affiancato da Luca Beltrame, tornerà al volante dell’affidabile Peugeot 208 R2 gestita dal Team Vieffecorse con cui ha conquistato un brillante secondo posto di WRC3 in occasione del Wales Rally GB disputato due settimane fa: per lui sarà la terza partecipazione alla gara spagnola (primo nella Production Cup nel 2015 e quinto tra le WRC3 nel 2016) ed affronterà la gara mettendo a frutto l’esperienza maturata in passato sulle strade catalane.
“Al di là del fatto che dovremo affrontare fondi stradali differenti, per noi questa gara non sarà certo facile: per restare in corsa per il titolo mondiale, infatti, non dobbiamo commettere alcun errore e raggiungere il traguardo ad ogni costo. Questo comporterà una concentrazione elevatissima ed una condotta di gara assai accorta per non compromettere le nostre chance di vittoria finale” ha dichiarato Enrico Brazzoli in partenza per la Spagna “Come in Germania ed in Galles ce la giocheremo con il finlandese Taisko Lario, che ha dimostrato di avere un buon passo ed sarà determinato ad aggiudicarsi il massimo del punteggio: per lui è l’ultima gara valida e darà il tutto per tutto per stare davanti a noi. In accordo con il Team e con gli sponsor, ho deciso di non lasciare nulla di intentato e mi sono iscritto anche al Rally Australia del prossimo novembre: abbiamo l’opportunità, direi unica a 53 anni, di provare a laurearci Campioni del Mondo e faremo l’impossibile per ripagare in modo concreto tutti quanti ci hanno aiutato nelle ultime stagioni”.
Il programma della gara prevede le verifiche tecniche a Salou nel pomeriggio di mercoledì 24 ottobre e lo shakedown, sempre a Salou, nella mattinata di giovedì 25, a cui seguiranno, nel tardo pomeriggio, la cerimonia di partenza e la Prova Spettacolo a Barcellona. Venerdì 26 è prevista la disputa delle prime sei Prove Speciali su fondo sterrato (tre differenti da ripetere in due occasioni, per 145 km. totali). La gara proseguirà su strade asfaltate nelle giornate di sabato 27 (sette P.S., per ulteriori 122 km.) e domenica 28 (altre quattro Prove, per 62 km. in totale) e si concluderà sul lungomare di Salou dopo 332 km. di impegni cronometrati.

The run-up to the WRC3 2018 title is running out and only two events (Spain and Australia) remain to win the World Championship reserved for two-wheel drive cars. The JWRC dominators (the Swedes Emil Bergkvist and Denis Radstrom) will not be at the start of the last events of the season, the Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Franceschi and the British Tom Williams can no longer score points and, consequently, the chances for the final success remain in the hands of Enrico Brazzoli, of the Finnish Taisko Lario and of the English Louise Cook. To all three pilots the math grants the chance to win the Championship but everything will depend on the final result of the two remaining rallies...
Enrico Brazzoli, as usual co-driven by Luca Beltrame, will return at the wheel of the reliable Peugeot 208 R2 managed by Team Vieffecorse after the brilliant second place inWRC3 gained at Wales Rally GB two weeks ago: for him this will be the third participation in the Spanish event (first in the Production Cup in 2015 and fifth among the WRC3 in 2016) and will face the race by exploiting the experience gained in the past along the roads of Catalunya.
"Besides the fact that we will have to tackle different road surfaces, this rally will not be easy for us: in order to stay in the race for the World Title we must not make any mistakes and reach the goal at any cost. This will involve a very high concentration and a very careful race to avoid compromising our chances of final victory" Enrico Brazzoli said before leaving for Spain "As it was in Germany and Wales, we will play the game with the Finnish Taisko Lario, who has shown to have a good pace and who is determined to mark the maximum of points: for him it will be the last occasion to score points and he will give everything to finish in front of us. In agreement with the Team and my Sponsors, I decided not to leave any stone unturned and I sent my entry in Rally Australia: we have the opportunity to become World Champions and we will do our best to repay in a concrete way everybody who trusted us in the last seasons".
The program includes technical scrutineering in Salou in the afternoon of Wednesday 24 October and the shakedown, in Salou as well, in the morning of Thursday 25 followed, in the late afternoon, by the Ceremonial Start and by the Super Special Stage in Barcelona. On Friday 26 we’ll run the first six Special Stages on gravel (three different to be repeated, for 145 kms. in total). The race will continue along tarmac roads on Saturday 27 (seven S.S., for a further total of 122 kms.) and on Sunday 28 (another four Stages, for 62 kms. in total), which will finish along the seafront of Salou after 332 km. of timed Stages.
