A distanza di quasi cinque mesi dalla prestigiosa vittoria tra le WRC3 al Rallye Monte Carlo, prima gara del FIA World Rally Championship 2018, Enrico Brazzoli e Luca Beltrame sono pronti a risalire al volante della Peugeot 208 R2 curata dai tecnici del Team Vieffecorse per affrontare il Rally Italia Sardegna, che prenderà il via da Alghero nei prossimi giorni.
Il pilota di Saluzzo è alla sua terza partecipazione alla gara sarda (sempre con una Peugeot 208 della compagine bresciana): ottimo quarto tra le WRC3 nel 2016 ma, purtroppo, solo ottavo nel 2017 a causa di un malessere del suo co-pilota che ha condizionato il risultato finale.
“Benché mi pesi ancora lo sfortunato epilogo dello scorso anno, non affronteremo la gara per cercare “vendetta” ma, anzi, partiremo con il dichiarato obbiettivo di raccogliere “punti pesanti” da aggiungere al bottino pieno conquistato a Montecarlo e guadagnare qualche posizione nella classifica generale del Campionato, che al momento ci vede in quinta posizione assoluta” ha dichiarato Enrico Brazzoli, in procinto di partire per la Sardegna “Le premesse - tecniche ed umane - per fare bene ci sono davvero tutte e non vedo l’ora di tornate in macchina dopo questo lungo stop: di fatto, la mia stagione nel WRC3 inizia adesso mentre i miei diretti avversari nella rincorsa al titolo hanno già disputato tre/quattro gare. Ad inizio anno loro ed io abbiamo fatto scelte diverse: potendo sommare al massimo sei risultati, ho preferito scegliere gare che ho già disputato (dopo l’Italia, infatti, andremo in Germania, in Galles ed in Spagna), delle quali conosco le peculiarità e le insidie e che, di conseguenza, dovrebbero permettermi di stare ai “piani alti” della classifica iridata”.
Il programma della gara prevede le verifiche tecniche ad Alghero nel tardo pomeriggio di mercoledì 6 giugno e lo shakedown ad Olmedo nella mattinata di giovedì 7, a cui seguirà, in serata, la Prova Spettacolo all’Ittiri Arena. Da venerdì 8 si inizierà a fare sul serio con la disputa delle prime otto Prove Speciali (quattro differenti da ripetere, per 124 km. totali). La gara proseguirà sabato 9 (con ulteriori sette P.S., per ulteriori 146 km.) mentre domenica 10 si disputerà l’ultima tappa, composta da sole quattro Prove (42 km. in totale), che si concluderà al Bastione Magellano di Alghero dopo 314 km. di impegni cronometrati.
After almost five months since the prestigious victory among the WRC3 at Rallye Monte Carlo, the first event of the FIA World Rally Championship 2018, Enrico Brazzoli and Luca Beltrame are ready to go back to their Peugeot 208 R2 managed by the technicians of Team Vieffecorse and face Rally Italia Sardegna, which will start from Alghero in the next days.
For the driver from Saluzzo this will be his third participation in the Sardinian race (once again with a Peugeot 208 of the Team from Brescia): excellent fourth among the WRC3 in 2016 but, unfortunately, only eighth in 2017 due to a malaise of his co-pilot who conditioned the final result.
"Although I can non forget the unfortunate epilogue of last year, we will not face the race to seek "revenge" but, on the contrary, we will start the rally with the declared objective to collect "heavy points" to be added to the ones we got in Monaco and gain some position in the general ranking of the Championship, where at the moment we are in fifth place overall" Enrico Brazzoli said soon before leaving to Sardinia "The premises - both technical and human - are really encouraging and I can not wait to return at the wheel of my car after this long stop: as a matter of facts, my season in the WRC3 starts only now while my direct rivals in the run-up to the title have already entered three/four rallies. At the beginning of the year they and I have made different choices: being the fact that each driver can add only six results, I preferred to choose the rallies that I have already run (after Italy, we will go to Germany, Wales and Spain), and of all of them I already know the peculiarities and the pitfalls. This, as a consequence, should allow us to stay on the "upper floors" of the Championship standings".
The program includes technical scrutineering in Alghero in the late afternoon of Wednesday 6 June and the shakedown in Olmedo in the morning of Thursday 7, followed in the evening by the Super Special Stage at the Ittiri Arena. From Friday 8 the game will start to be serious with the first eight Special Stages (four different to be repeated, for 124 kms. in total). The race will continue on Saturday 9 (with another seven S.S., for a further total of 146 kms.) while on Sunday 10 will take place the last four Stages (only 42 kms. in total), which will finish at Bastione Magellano in Alghero after 314 km. of timed Stages.
